One of the most famous Kyoto youth hostels in the city is the Bakpak Kyoto Hostel, located in the heart of the downtown area. Kyoto's youth hostels vary in quality and it is worth making some enquiries before you commit to a place. The best places are invariably full during high season, so it’s wise to book ahead. Look out for establishments that market themselves as guesthouses as opposed to hostels; they generally offer comparable room standards at better rates.
